A TikTok Analysis (Why US wants to Ban it)
images - 2022-07-26T130436.017.jpeg

This is a neutral analysis. Let's start...

A) THE START OF BYTEDANCE & DOUYIN
Mr. Zhang Miyin founded ByteDance that started it back in 2012 inside his apartment. Douyin was also first founded in Mainland China back in 2016 by Mr. Zhang Yiming its CEO & Founder.

The app is a success as homegrown first that garnered around 100+ Million Chinese users until it dominated the Chinese market. Back in the days Vine and Musically is the thing but ByteDance the parent company whom TikTok was registered legally bought Musically and rebranded it to TikTok as the English version of Douyin.

B) USERS GLOBALLY
There are 1B+ download across all app store and playstore already. The app evaluation is in around $50B-$75B as of today while its parent company ByteDance is around $100B-$400B. 40 Million Filipinos and around 80 Million Americans active now using TikTok because it was a fun entertainment app, I admit it that it was indeed good and fun app.

C) BEATING GOOGLE & FACEBOOK
Back in 2021 TikTok beats Facebook as the most downloaded app and even beats Google as the number 1 website globally in traffic. TikTok was even being used rather than Google as search engine nowadays.

D) THE ISSUE
I don't hate TikTok but when it comes to National Security issue that's how my other views got changed. It is the same with the officials of any sovereign country who Thinks Tank.

As you can see TikTok can gather everyones information like biometric, fingerprints, face recognition, behaviours, clipboard, location, birthday, age, gender, gallery pictures & videos, and even passwords by theory. We know that facebook, twitter, and such also do that but the difference is about the mutual relationship of the two parties. China bans Facebook, Google, YouTube, etc on their homeland, and censored almost everything as they relied on social credits.

USA is worried that it will be used against them because it gathered so much infos that can be used for illicit purpose such as sabotage, spying on military and gov't officials, stealing technology from the spied devices, blackmail, selling to nefarious black market or bad companies, and can be given to the CCP itself by their default laws. Now we know that USA have been fighting over technology research about stealing of company blueprints and that's why they are worried that much.

E) LOCAL RECEPTION
The Philippines is not that strict because the government here relied on low cheap materials that's why they relied too much on the import from China. Reason TikTok was well accepted in the Philippines. It was also accepted in India back in 2019 until in the Q2 2020 when it got banned because of conflict with borders and National Security issues.

F) THE BAN
Back in 2020 the ban heat started when India felt it was using it to deter the Indian youth on participating with the local brands and ideology. At that time former US president Trump also voice out its concern and tried to ban TikTok if it won't be sold with the American counterparts.

India and China had tough time with their borders and that day occured in Lodakh Border Clash when Chinese patrols denied the Indian Soldier the access on some border areas. 20 Indian soldiers died and an uncounted Chinese soldiers died too.

Today Australian are concerned too and want to Ban TikTok on their country for the same reason.

G) INDIA SUCCESSFULLY BANNED TIKTOK
India felt that and suddenly banned every Chinese made apps to punish them from the incursion of hostility. The Idea of India's prime minister Modi is to push Vocal For Local aka "Aatmanirbhar Bharat". India now build their own TikTok clone called Mitron and Chingari which is successful today. They love & support local products and stay away from being a slave to foreign goods whether its digital or tangible, atleast they are trying unlike the Philippines.

H) US FAILED THE ATTEMPT TO BAN TIKTOK
In USA former president Donald Trump is pushing the ban of TikTok too but TikTok didn't give up and paid some 18 most prominent American influencers, with them are there followers, one of the 18 paid american influencers got 7.7M followers to fight for the US President. Around $200M+ are sent to those paid influencers to combat the US Ban. Those influencers are earning in TikTok and afraid that the ban will affect them badly so they protested and fight Trump. I think they can find an alternative too if they want but the pay is high from China.

I) PHILIPPINES FAILED BAN
In the Philippines it have some conflict with NPA's, a CCP funded movement of communism in the country too. To think that TikTok can be used against government officials as well with our fighting military & police force with the NPA, check D). Seems the past government of Duterte doesn't have issue with it so they didn't ban TikTok here when asked if the Philippines should ban TikTok as well.

President Bong Bong Marcos is a Vlogger that is using TikTok back when he ain't a president yet. It will be a dangerous if he still continous using it today because of his power in a sovereign nation that can be targeted by TikTok master admin for nefarious purposes. Check section D). That's why it can be called a National Security because of the West Philippines Sea issue as well. Some said that TikTok can be used to brainwash the Filipinos too because it is addicted like a dopamine that let them stay there being harvested by the CCP.

J) THE FCC TIKTOK BAN
As of now the FCC Brendan Carr want TikTok to be banned on Playstore and Appstore for good. They are now fighting back TikTok after their lost back in 2020. You can search and see for yourself the trend about it on google.

K) DANGEROUS FOR KIDS
Some of the challenge in TikTok are aweful because some kids died on it just to follow a trend to get famous. If you can search google you can find that story.

L) ALTERNATIVE OF TIKTOK
If the ban happens today or tomorrow then you can always find an alternative such as Triller of USA, Chingari of India, or the newest Vorz of the Philippines which I co-founded. Not being bias here but talking about your next option as a dancer or whatever you do on that platform.

This analysis is not just about data privacy but about sovereign & national security too.
